Nomination and Selection Procedure of Award

The guidelines for candidate selection are based on the submitted research articles, which are classified into two scientific categories: reproductive biomedicine and stem cell biology and technology. After receiving the applications, the RIRA Scientific Committee assigns an innovation score to each project. Only those that achieve the minimum required score are considered for further evaluation.

Each article is then assessed based on its relevance, impact factor, and level of innovation. Following this initial ranking, each scientific group selects its nominees and submits them to national and international referees for review. Referees qualitatively evaluate the nominated research articles within their areas of expertise using a Likert scale, based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance to the award categories
  • Creativity and innovation
  • Methodology and research design
  • Problem-solving capacity
  • Applicability in medicine and industry

The evaluations provided by the referees are subsequently reviewed by the Institute’s Scientific Board. Based on this process, both international and national winners are selected and officially announced.

The awardees are invited to attend the Royan International Twin Congress on Reproductive Biomedicine and Stem Cell Biology and Technology, held annually in August or September, where attendance is required. Winners present their research at the Congress and are honored during the Award Ceremony, receiving their certificates, the Royan Award symbol, and a cash prize.
